Annual Happenings

 

  • On the 7th of May, at the entrance of the cave the festival of ¨Ai Giannis the Spiliotis¨, traditional dancing and treatings take place.
  • On the 23rd and 24th of June the name of Ai Giannis is celebrated. On this day, dancing as well as the tradition of Kleidonas, take place in the Middle Age castle.
  • On the 16th July, the great festival of Agia Marina takes place at the port of Agia Marina and one can again enjoy traditional dances and "treatings" to all.
  • On the 7th of September there is a festival held at the small church of Panagia Faneromeni, which is situated on the other side of Antiparos and can be reached only by fishing boats.

3 DAY FESTIVAL OF AGIA MARINA

1ST DAY BEFORE:

  • Starts with yacht racing and continues with the triathlon - swimming 150 m, cycling 4000m and run racing 1000m.
  • Lectures by international yacht racing coaches.
  • Awarding of triathlon athletes and music - dance programme performed by the local dance groups of Antiparos.

 

2ND DAY BEFORE:

  • 2nd day of yacht racing.
  • Litany of the sacred icon of Agia Marina.
  • Great liturgy held at the church of Agia Marina.
  • Concert held by the traditional local band.
  • Awards for specific honouring reasons.
  • Traditional greek theatrical play.
  • Concert of superb island tradition.

3RD DAY... THE GREATEST OF ALL:

  • Litany of the sacred icon of Agia Marina.
  • Start of run race 2200m as well as a run rade of 10000m.
  • Awarding of runners.
  • Dancing and music.
